Bacteriostatic water (BWFI, BAC water) is sterile water for injection containing 0.9% benzyl alcohol as a preservative. It prevents microbial growth, allowing multiple withdrawals from one vial — unlike regular water for injection (WFI), which must be used as a single dose.
Regular water for injection (WFI) contains no preservative and must be used immediately after opening. Bacteriostatic water contains 0.9% benzyl alcohol, which inhibits bacterial growth and allows repeated vial punctures for up to 28 days. Always use bacteriostatic water for peptide reconstitution.
After first puncture, bacteriostatic water can be used for 28 days when stored at 2-8°C. The benzyl alcohol maintains sterility throughout this period. After 28 days, replace with a new vial.
We offer bacteriostatic water in 3 ml vials (included with peptide kits) and 10 ml vials (sold separately). The 10 ml vial is economical when working with multiple peptides simultaneously.
Before opening, store at room temperature, protected from light. After first puncture, store at 2-8°C and use within 28 days. Do not freeze — freezing may damage the vial and compromise sterility.
